TAB FINISHING (CONVERTING)

If your project can be ran on 100# White Tag or 125# White Tag then you'll likely save money by looking at our custom tab production capabilities.

Now let's talk about tab finishing.

Tab finishing is as simple as 1,2,3.  Here's how it works: (1) you contact us for a layout template [we supply this provided you have us convert your sheets into tabs]; (2) you have the tab project printed following exactly the appropriate directions below; (3) you send your sheets to us trimmed to the final overall size. 

Finally, we convert the sheets you supplied into a laminated or plain tab, with optional edge reinforcing, collating, drilling and shrinkwrapping.

Tab finishing generally takes 3 working days, unless there is body copy.

FOR PRINTING INDEX TABS WITH BODY COPY

If you are printing on

COATED STOCK and want a LAMINATED TAB,

then you must (1) print using laser-sub ink, (2) wait 3 days for the ink to thoroughly dry, (3) apply an overall wax-free varnish.

IMPORTANT: If your sheet has ink that reverses or bleeds on the tab extension, gas will develop during the lamination process.   This will cause bubbling under the mylar laminate. This is most visible on tabs using clear mylar over darker color inks.

If you are printing on

COATED STOCK and want a PLAIN TAB,

then you must use hard dry ink.

If you are printing on

UNCOATED STOCK and want a LAMINATED TAB,

then you must print using laser-sub ink.
